THE BEGINNING
Born Into It
Eric came into the world at home, on an off-grid homestead in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, born into a community quietly reshaping the consciousness of a generation. His parents moved in a circle that included poet Gary Snyder, writer Lew Welch, and the beatnik thinkers and spiritual pioneers bringing Eastern philosophy and expanded awareness into American life.
When the family eventually relocated to Santa Cruz, that foundation only deepened. Eric found God in nature. The ocean became something more than a place to surf: it was where he felt emotionally held, spiritually met, alive in a way the classroom and the conventional world never quite reached. The California coast wasn't just a childhood backdrop. It was his first spiritual bridge.
THE TURNING POINT
The Initiation
When Eric was four, his father was diagnosed with cancer. When it returned during Eric's early adolescence, the rhythm of after-school life changed completely. Instead of soccer practice or art classes, Eric found himself walking into chemo wards. Those rooms, with their clinical hum and human fragility, became an unexpected education into the body, into mortality, and into the limits of what conventional medicine could do for a person's suffering.
His father passed away two days after Eric graduated from middle school. He was fourteen.
Something broke open in him that didn't close. The loss didn't just grieve him: it initiated him. It sent him into the big questions: What is life? What happens after? Why do we suffer? That questioning pulled him toward spiritual medicine and metaphysical thinking. It also left wounds that showed up in his formal education and eventually in his body. At nineteen, he was diagnosed with diabetes. Traditional medicine couldn't stabilize him.
For a while, Eric thought the life he was building: surfing, working in restaurants, pursuing a career as an EMT: was the answer. It made sense on the surface. The ocean was still there. But his soul had a different plan.
He moved from health crisis to health crisis, until someone pointed him toward ThetaHealing. In his very first session, something shifted. His body became responsive. The instability resolved. He didn't just get better. He found his path.
THE CALLING
Montana. A Room.
A Yes.
At twenty-one, Eric attended his first ThetaHealing certification course. On the final day, founder Vianna Stibal asked if he was coming to the teacher's training that summer. He said yes before he'd even thought about it.
That summer he drove to Montana, showed up at the training, and within two days asked to meet with Vianna privately. He walked in so nervous he couldn't speak. She read his mind. You want to stay and work with me, she said.
He spent that summer living with Vianna: interning in her sessions, assisting her courses, absorbing everything she taught. When he eventually drove back west, he sat in meditation and heard: it's time to leave.
He drove back to Montana unannounced. She invited him to teach a section of a new class. Standing in front of that room, everything converged. The healer. The teacher. The storyteller.
THE JOURNEY
A Life in Practice
2001
First ThetaHealing certification. Studies under Vianna Stibal in Montana.
2003
Launches full-time private practice in New York City.
2005
Begins teaching internationally. Hosted in six countries.

Eric comes from a family line of educators. His mother spent her career as a schoolteacher. Eric took his first job as a teacher's assistant at twelve. Long before he understood why, he was already doing it: reading the room, finding the story that landed, guiding people into understanding they couldn't quite reach on their own.
Over more than two decades of teaching ThetaHealing and personal development, he has trained over 2,000 certified practitioners: many of whom now run thriving practices of their own. He teaches through story. He has an uncommon ability to sense where a student is in their understanding and meet them there.

Eric has never stopped training. With over 50 certifications and personal development programs completed across his career, he brings a depth and range that most practitioners simply don't have. He is a lifelong student of healing, consciousness, and the human experience, always integrating new techniques, always growing.
He is also a devoted husband and father of four. Married to his soulmate, raising a family in the Hudson Valley, spending time outdoors whenever possible: close to the land, close to his kids, living with the same reverence for nature and freedom that was instilled in him on that mountain homestead all those years ago.
He is warm, direct, and deeply present with the people he works with. After more than two decades and over 15,000 sessions, he is still called by the same thing that moved him at twenty-one: the moment someone discovers that what they believed was permanent turns out to be neither.
